At Code/+/Trust, we’re more than just a development shop, we’re your strategic co-founders, product visionaries, and fractional CTOs.

What do bourbon barrels, jails, and hospitals have in common?

They’re all part of the industries our clients have disrupted with our help. We use a flexible, industry-agnostic process: discovery, user research, journey mapping, rapid prototyping, and validation. While the path doesn’t change, every step is tailored to the product and the people it serves.

We’re not just a dev shop, we’re everything our clients need to bring great products to life. At Code/+/Trust, we often step in as fractional CPOs, product strategists, UX researchers, designers, engineers, and even sounding boards for the next big idea. From early-stage concepting and MVP development to launch, iteration, and scale, we assist with the full product lifecycle. Whether you’re validating your first sketch or planning your V3 roadmap, we’re built to flex with you at every stage.

We specialize in custom software, web and mobile apps, DevOps, and UI/UX, leveraging cutting-edge technologies like AI, blockchain, and AR to deliver smarter, faster, and more secure solutions. With over 50 years of entrepreneurial tech experience, our fully in-house, onshore team partners with founders and organizations to transform bold ideas into scalable, market-ready products. We ensure your software grows alongside your business with our three-phase approach: Product Design, MVP Development, and Ongoing Partnership.

We don’t just write code, we help build businesses. Your success is our mission. Proudly founded in Charleston, we’ve since expanded our partnerships across the United States.

How to make a product. The Journey:

What problem are you trying to solve?

Is it worth solving? Will it make a significant impact in the lives of your customers? Does this solve a real, frequent problem for a specific group of people?

Who will use the product?

Start by talking to real potential customers. Ask about their goals, frustrations, and current workarounds. Map out their journey step-by-step, from the moment they discover your app to the outcome they hope to achieve. Use that journey to guide what features you build, when you show them, and how you support users along the way.

Who else is trying to solve this?

What other companies are in this space? Observe how they are tackling the problem. What are they doing well, and where are they missing the mark? Reflect on your own idea: how is your approach different? Better? Take screenshots and save the URLs so you can reference them later without having to dig.

Sketch a million ideas.

Start by sketching what competitors and similar companies are doing to learn from existing patterns. Then, use simple sketches to explore your own ideas, don’t worry about perfection, just focus on clarity. Repeat the process multiple times, pushing yourself to improve and add notes as needed to explain your thinking.

Share it with people.

Share your idea with potential customers and ask open-ended questions about how they currently handle the problem. Watch their reactions to your sketches or feature ideas to gauge interest and clarity. If possible, run a quick usability test to see if they can navigate your interface and understand what each element does.

Build it or find someone who can.

As you move into development, more questions will pop up, such as: “Do we have a 404 page if something breaks?” and “What does the empty state of this widget look like?” Be prepared to answer these or find someone who can.

Now you’re live. What’s next?

Once your product is out in the world, you’ll have access to a goldmine of feedback through reviews, support calls, frequently asked questions, and analytics. Listen hard, iterate, and improve.

Keep evolving

Pay attention to user reviews and what your customer service team reports back. Your product isn’t done, customer needs and the competitive landscape will shift over time. Keep your eyes open and your product evolving.
