Since the industrial fabric of Canada is made up of SMEs, it cannot be thought that each of them has a laboratory or a research department. In fact, very few have the necessary equipment and human resources sensitive to the importance of continuous innovation. The CNETE meets these needs.
The CNETE carries out applied research, technical assistance, specialized industry training and information activities for Quebec companies in order to contribute to the improvement and development of environmentally friendly processes and products, by promoting the impact on college education.
The CNETE supports businesses through high-level expertise in nine areas related to environmental technologies: molecular biology, industrial bioprocesses, purification and formulation of bioproducts, membrane technologies, gas production and treatment, electrochemistry, battery and nanotechnology materials, recycling and recovery, and soil treatment. These are cross-cutting technologies that meet a wide variety of industrial needs such as ore processing, residual materials, processes related to renewable energies, agrifood,
water treatment and industrial solutions, green chemistry or pharmaceuticals again. Its laboratory to pilot scale equipment allows for scaling up and effective technology transfer. Also, the CNETE collaborates in the development of the Energy Transition Valley innovation zone by being a pivotal organization of the Inter-Order Research Center project on critical and strategic materials, batteries and their recycling. In the current context of market globalization, it is essential to support companies so, they can position themselves quickly and advantageously in their current markets, but also in new markets. To do this, it is important to provide not only resources in technological innovation, but also to promote an intersectoral approach that brings together, from the start of the project, experts in both technological innovation and commercialization and marketing or training specialists.
This approach, the implementation of five-year research plans for its main customers and the deployment of human resources directly in the companies contribute to the success of the CNETE and its customers. This approach brings together different socio-economic actors around the same technological project in order to allow SMEs to shorten the time to market entry and optimize the products or processes developed.
The CNETE contributes to changing innovation practices in order to promote interactions and thus becomes a key player in terms of support and support for innovation for SMEs in the areas it masters and develops.
