SuperNOVA: Empowering Youth Through STEM Education
At SuperNOVA, our mission is empowering youth through educational experiences in STEM that cultivate curiosity and an attitude for lifelong learning. We are committed to ensuring that youth—regardless of their geographic location, socio-economic situation, ability, or gender—can be inspired through STEM.
For youth from underserved populations, the path to STEM careers can seem distant or even out of reach. Barriers like access to resources, exposure to role models, or simply knowing where to start can prevent youth from seeing themselves in these fields. That’s why we do what we do at SuperNOVA. We are not just offering programs—we are working to open doors and inspire youth to consider STEM as an option for their future.
Through our STEM outreach, we focus on equity and inclusion, bringing hands-on, innovative learning to the youth who need it most. Whether it’s coding, robotics, oceans, or environmental science, we create experiences that spark curiosity and foster critical thinking. By making STEM fun, engaging, and relevant, we inspire students to see themselves as problem solvers, innovators, and leaders.
Our commitment to underserved communities, including Indigenous youth and rural schools, means that we are bridging gaps where opportunities have been historically limited. When we give young people the chance to learn in ways that resonate with them—using local data and tackling real-world challenges—we are investing not just in their education but in the future of Nova Scotia.
Empowering youth through STEM is about building confidence, resilience, and a belief in what’s possible. It’s about showing them that their ideas matter, their dreams are achievable, and their contributions can make a difference in the world.
As Executive Director of SuperNOVA, I have seen firsthand the power of this work, and I am endlessly inspired by the youth who will shape the future of our communities.
