Inaugurated in January 2020, the Institute Intelligence and Data (IID) at Université Laval brings together the driving forces of research and innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) and data valorization in the greater Quebec City area.
From fundamental or applied research, to major ethical issues, the Institute’s 65 members, collaborators and associate researchers as well as the IID team of more than 20 research associates are actively working today to develop methods, technologies, and applications that will support the Quebec of tomorrow.
A multitude of applications grouped into four main areas
The work of IID-related research teams involves a wide variety of application fields, from Industry 4.0 to the Internet of Things, from interconnected territories to smart devices, from medical imaging to genomics, sustainable development, robotics and more! In general, the work of these teams is grouped into four main research areas:

The expertise of IID researchers and high-level research professionals, as well as the infrastructures and knowledge present in the Institute’s four founding research centers and in its rich network of partners, enables IID to offer a complete expertise in data science and artificial intelligence, for the benefit of both fundamental and applied research.

Structuring initiatives supported or overseen by IID
IID oversees various large-scale projects, carried out in an interdisciplinary framework, in collaboration with industrial partners. These projects bring together large research teams and touch on various fields involving AI and data: digital transformation, insurance, aerospace, digital infrastructure, trusted AI and more.
