playhaus is an emerging technology company working at the intersection of web3 systems and artificial intelligence. It has always had a Midwest-based identity, with the company having started in Ann Arbor, MI, but relocated to Kansas City, MO, in June of 2022 to be immersed in KC’s vibrant creative and digital media community.
Connor Borrego started this company after spending time as the AI product expert for Google’s small business advertising unit, where he was responsible for helping startups to build data infrastructure to take advantage of the AI advertising solutions and save money on their investment. Realizing the opportunity to help mainstreet businesses and everyday consumers by integrating web3 into the solution, he left to start playhaus in October of 2020.
Since establishing our presence in Kansas City, the team has grown from 1 full-time member to a mixture of 7 full- and part-time team members, including KC local business partners like Paul Epp, Richard Chungong Jr, David Steele Overholt, Branden Hughes, & Matt Copple. Most of our growth has come from participating in regional groups like NFT Central, KC Digital Drive, Digital Sandbox KC, and KC Futures DAO.
playhaus is on a mission to help all users of the internet to protect their data and privacy online, while also preserving the economic systems that power today’s online social, entertainment, and streaming platforms. We are excited to be located in Kansas City and establishing its identity as a technology leader.
