LightPath Technologies is a world leader in the manufacturing, distribution, and design of optics solutions, infrared components including molded glass aspheric lenses, thermal imaging assemblies, and fused fiber collimators. LightPath has been in operation for over 30 years catering for blue-chip customers in the industrial, defense, telecommunications, testing and measurement, and medical industries and offers full engineering design support.
The company is headquartered in Orlando, Florida, in the University of Central Florida’s Research Park and has major manufacturing facilities in Zhenjiang China and Riga Latvia. Optical design, rapid proto-typing, defense work and pilot production all takes place in the Orlando HQ. LightPath is vertically integrated which includes design, optical glass and salt melting, custom built press machines and tooling manufacture, precision glass molding, advanced optical coating, and advanced metrology, all key steps of the in-house, world-class, optics manufacturing process.
From weapon sights to missile components, Prime Defense Contractors are increasingly dependent upon enhanced optical sensing technology to support the warfighter’s mission.
Customer service is paramount to LightPath’s success. Customers can select an item which fits their requirements from LightPath’s catalog of standard optical elements and assemblies, including infrared optics (BD6 and germanium-based lenses) and precision molded optics (PMO) lenses (glass aspheres). However, much of our business comes by working with LightPath’s engineering team to develop custom solutions.
From weapon sights to missile components, Prime Defense Contractors are increasingly dependent upon enhanced optical sensing technology to support the warfighter’s mission. The Defense sector is one of six vertical end markets addressed by LightPath. Central Florida, home to a large defense contracting base, makes serving this market particularly attractive as LightPath engineers enjoy frequent professional interaction with many of the major defense contractors.
LightPath Technologies also produces a wide range of products designed for many diversified commercial applications such as telecommunication network equipment, range finders, saw guides, rifle scopes and medical instruments. The company also produces both large and small beam collimators using its patented fiber fusion technology. A collimator is an optical device that takes the light from a laser diode and forms it into a beam.
LightPath’s wholly-owned subsidiary, ISP Optics Corporation, manufactures a full range of infrared products in its, state of the art, high-volume, ITAR-controlled facility located in Riga, Latvia. Our infrared lenses are designed primarily for thermal imaging cameras operating in the mid-wave and long-wave infrared bands. These products are for applications such as thermography, diagnostics, security, aiming and surveillance. Products are manufactured from various types of infrared optical glasses, ceramics, salts and crystals. The processes used include substrate manufacturing, computer numerical control grinding and polishing, diamond turning, continuous and conventional polishing, optical contacting and testing.
“The LightPath brand is becoming recognized as one of the world’s leading vertically integrated suppliers for optical technology requirements from the defense, industrial, medical, automotive and telecom markets. We continue to look forward to calling Orlando, and Central Florida, our home. The high caliber work force, world-class industrial base and reasonable cost of living all contribute to making Orlando the right choice for us!” Jim Gaynor, CEO & President comments.
