C. Russell Slappey, CPA – CEO & Founder
Russell Slappey is the founder/CEO and Managing Partner, Orlando, of Nperspective. He combines over 20 years of experience in Accounting, Information Systems, and Taxation and takes a hands-on approach in working with businesses of all sizes.
Slappey has been employed at both a regional accountant firm and a Big 4 firm and been involved in financial software applications for a leading reseller of business solutions. In addition to a substantial skill set, Slappey also has deep experience in corporate taxation.
Slappey is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a current member of the FICPA, and he holds a BBA and Master of Accountancy from Stetson University. He currently serves on the board of Directors for Orlando, Inc. and was named to the National Small Business Association (NSBA) Leadership Council. He is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Florida Board and Past President of the ACG Orlando Chapter.
A believer in the value of peer-to-peer organizations, Slappey is an active participant in Vistage Florida and CEO Nexus. He serves on the Florida Hospital Foundation Board and the Board of the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children. He serves as a volunteer advisor at the Small Business Development Council – Advisory Board Council.
Wayne F. Leland, CPA, EA – Co-Founder & Managing Partner
Wayne Leland is a former DCAA Auditor and has over 35 years experience. Since co-founding Nperspective, he has concentrated on helping government and DOD contractors to produce more accurate and timely accounting information while complying with FAR and DFAR regulations.
Leland’s accounting systems, all of which have been audited and passed by the DCAA, establish acceptable bases and pools for clients to improve their accounting systems even as they scale, allowing them to be more accurate on current contracts and more competitive in the future.
Prior to forming Nperspective, Wayne Leland was the CFO (ulitmately president) of a seven-corporation managed healthcare group that was successfully sold. He has quarterbacked numerous acquisition projects both from the buy and the sell-side.
Leland received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida after returning from Vietnam as a combat-decorated veteran. He is an active member of the AICPA and the FICPA, and has been a guest panelist before
MBA students at the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College. Sharing his entrepreneurial experience, Leland is also a volunteer advisor at the Advisory Board Council of the Small Business Development Council (SBDC) in Orlando.
Gary Cohen – Principal
Gary Cohen possesses more than 30 years of business experience, including 12 years as Chief Financial Officer of a multi-location medical practice and surgery center as well as several years each as CFO of two nonprofit agencies.
Cohen combines strategic vision with a strong understanding of operational issues and the ability to get the job done efficiently. At the same time, he has the capability to roll up his sleeves and delve into underlying accounting and operational details. He has held financial management positions and also possesses a strong background in executive management. During three decades as a chief financial officer and controller, Cohen has focused on improving operational performance and profitability, as well as upgrading the accounting and reporting capabilities of the finance departments he has directed. On the nonprofit side, Cohen is currently Treasurer and Board Member of The Lifeboat Project, Inc., a nonprofit organization focused on ending human trafficking.
Cohen holds a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Appalachian State University (ASU) and a Bachelor of Science degree with a Concentration in Accounting from ASU. He earned the Certified Public Account (CPA) designation in the State of Florida (presently inactive). He is a former member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA).
Albert P. Anderson, CPA – Principal
With over 30 years of diverse business experience, AI Anderson has worked with a wide variety of companies, from global Fortune 100 corporations to emerging-growth enterprises.
Prior to joining Nperspective, Anderson served as a partner of a national professional services organization, leading the turnaround of a 50-year-old manufacturing company with $5M in operating loss (over 2 years) to profitability within 12 months. Anderson also was the CFO for a worldwide pioneer in laser systems, and in this capacity, he developed strategic initiatives that ultimately restored banking confidence within a 5-month period.
With a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Central Florida, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Accounting from George Washington University, Anderson is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of Maryland and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, and a Volunteer Advisor with the Orlando Small Business Development Center Advisory Board Council.
Ron Wilkinson – Principal
Ron Wilkinson has been in the accounting and finance profession for over thirty-five years, and he blends a great depth of financial experience with a skill for bringing out the best in the people with whom he works. He believes in leading by example and in teaching and working beside those who will be responsible for continuing what he starts.
Wilkinson served as the Financial Director of the Florida market for Nationwide Communications. After leaving media, Wilkinson became CFO/COO for Quest, Inc., a nonprofit organization serving those with developmental disabilities. While there, Wilkinson planned and developed a school for individuals along the autism spectrum and acquired a similar school in the Tampa area.
Currently, Wilkinson is involved in several food start-up ventures and continues to consult with clients in a variety of fields and stages of growth.
A proud Florida Gator and University of New Orleans Privateer, he volunteers to work with students at UCF as they begin their careers as entrepreneurs.
