This backdrop makes Santa Monica a perfect city to launch the next edition in our INNOVATE® stable.

INNOVATE® Santa Monica will be a celebration of the region’s most exciting innovations and its entrepreneurial ecosystem. All selected stories will be carefully chosen to ensure they reflect the innovation and growth within Santa Monica and shine a light on the innovation ecosystem that prevails in this fast-changing city. INNOVATE® Santa Monica will highlight and celebrate the companies and individuals that are actively working at building a better tomorrow for all. José da Veiga - INNOVATE® Santa Monica Publishing Partner

Jose da Veiga lives and has lived in Los Angeles for the last 24 years. He has had a diverse entrepreneurial and business career always in Los Angeles. After completing a Master at UCLA, he became an early employee of PATH, developing what became (later sold to Internet Brands). Subsequently he joined, as an early employee, Strategic Data Corp, one of the first Display Ad servers (later sold to FOX Interactive Media). From ‘01 through to ‘06 he also built Convolution LLC, a design consulting company with clients such as UCLA, Tribune, LA Times, and DT Ventures. In ‘06 he co-founded KlickSports, a mobile sports gaming company based on a patent (awarded) he co-wrote. KlickSports went on to raise 1.3M in Angel funding and had numerous deployments at major sporting events and TV with clients such as FOX, DirectTV, KFC, Cincinnati Bell, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and a partnership with Google. In ‘11 Jose joined Cornerstone OnDemand, as it went for an IPO as one of the then first LA-local SaaS companies. There he built from the ground up the Integration Consulting, and later the Technical Sales teams. Subsequently he joined Technicolor USA as an Entrepreneur In Residence at their Innovations Lab. There he subsequently helped in the creation of the corporate Venture Capital arm, Technicolor Ventures in 2015. While there he was also the CEO of Intoo, a Techicholor VC funded consumer startup. Recently he was the Director of Technology for one of the largest education nonprofit organizations, Smarter Balanced, serving all K-through-12 students in California and other 13 states. Presently he advises local startups while also manages his investments. Amongst (many) other things, Jose also taught Architecture Design at Cal Poly Pomona and at Southern California Institute of Architecture (SciArc), and has received two Masters and a Ph.D from UCLA. He is an avid sailor and a member, as well as the Port Captain, for the Del Rey Yacht Club in Marina Del Rey. He lives with his wife and two children in West-Los Angeles.

Lígia Neves - INNOVATE® Santa Monica Publishing Partner

Lígia Neves is the publishing partner for INNOVATE™ Santa Monica. A Humanistic Professional Master Coach & Humanistic Professional Coach Trainer – IHCOS®, she is passionate about life and personal development, and she has dedicated the last 9 years to this area, founding Dare To Be Great in 2011, a Coaching Company that sees the world as a place where all people have access to their own empowerment for self-sustainability. With the goal of impacting more people’s lives, she became a required Coach/Consultant in several Companies, being the IHCOS® Ambassador for Portugal and a Strategic Advisory Board Member of SAPANA.
She also carries vast experience in the commercial arena, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry, where she held positions as Sales Representative, National Sales Manager, and Sales & Marketing Director, where she first developed a deep interest in behavioral areas, such as leadership, people management, emotional intelligence, communication skills, and crucial and influential themes for action. After being invited by AddSolutions to be part of the INNOVATE® world, and bring the Portuguese Innovative Ecosystem to the world, she did not hesitate to embrace the challenge!!

Pedro Coelho - INNOVATE™ Santa Monica Publishing Partner

Pedro Coelho is the publishing partner for INNOVATE® Santa Monica. Originally from Portugal, he recently arrived in Orlando, with an entrepreneurial spirit that is characteristic of all his endeavors.

While still studying for a degree in Architecture at the Lisbon Technical Institute of Lisbon University, Pedro created Addsolutions, a communication, branding, and events agency that has been in the Portuguese market for 21 years. Today, it is an agency that works with several multinational corporations, the vast majority of the pharmaceutical sector, and especially those permanently motivated by innovation.

With his desire for constant learning, Pedro earned a postgraduate degree in Management and E-Business from ISEG, Lisbon School of Economics & Management of Lisbon University, and an Intensive Management Course from ISCTE (Mini-MBA). He also attended the first year PhD in Tourism, Heritage & Territory at Coimbra University and the Executive Education in Internationalization Management Program at Católica Business & Economics in Lisbon. With the aim of sharing his knowledge and know-how, he’s spent much of his time teaching at ETIC, School of Technologies Innovation and Creation.

In addition to his career, sports have always been a passion for Pedro. To that end, he played an important role as a Local Tour Director of the US Kids Golf Foundation.

In recent years, he has invested in the internationalization of Addsolutions and today its main focus is to make the agency recognized as the most innovative and creative of all.

INNOVATE™ will be another entrepreneurship project well-aligned with Pedro’s passion for Portugal and innovation.
