Bristol24/7 is the first port of call to find out what’s happening across the city and is at the heart of the local community. Its high-quality, independent news, in-depth features, what’s on listings and everything in between is produced by a team of experienced and talented journalists.
Bristol24/7 represents the whole of the city and works hard to engage with and provide a platform for marginalised individuals and hard to reach communities.
The free printed magazine has around 70,000 readers each month, and the website has over 200,000 monthly visitors. Bristol24/7 also has some of the biggest social media channels in the city.
Bristol24/7 also produces a wide range of annual publications, including the well-respected food and drink guide for the city EatDrink24/7, the Better Business Magazine, Student Guide and Festival Guide as well as producing the programmes for some of Bristol’s biggest events such as the Harbour Festival and International Balloon Fiesta.
But Bristol24/7 is more than a local media company.
As well as being Bristol’s biggest independent magazine and website it has always strived to have a positive impact on the city and the people who live here.
An award-winning work experience programme provides real-life experience to a wide range of young people, including those who would not usually get opportunities to develop skills in the media industry. More than 500 people have gained work experience at Bristol24/7 HQ with many going on to follow careers in journalism. Some are now working at national newspapers.
In 2017 Bristol24/7 launched an ambitious social impact programme delivering projects that have changed the lives of many who live in the city. These projects include How To Be A Chef, a bi-annual 12-week course in partnership with Square Food Foundation is aimed at young people who aren’t at work or in other education. The course delivers practical qualifications, invaluable experience and has directly led to many graduates gaining permanent employment in the industry.
In 2018 Bristol24/7 launched Better Bristol, an initiative to bring together its social and environmental aspirations, support its editorial independence and build a collaborative approach to making a better Bristol.
This initiative includes Better Business, a membership that has grown to over 60 organisations since it launched in November 2018. Better Business helps these businesses thrive whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here. It delivers these goals by amplifying businesses’ voices, encouraging collaboration, creating new relationships, strengthening old ones, celebrating business in the city, making staff happier and finding ways that the business community can help solve some of the city’s problems.
Bristol24/7 also launched a public membership allowing its readers and the wider community to support the organisation, get involved with our projects and events, and engage with the online content. These members are rewarded with lots of benefits including the magazine delivered to their door, free tickets to Bristol24/7 events and perks from partner organisations including free and discounted food and drinks; days out with the family and gig, theatre and festival tickets.
This innovative membership model is proving successful and is allowing Bristol24/7 to expand and improve its editorial output, continue to develop life-changing projects in the city, and further grow and engage its community.
